Sandy Headshot

Sandy Wu

Board Director
Dallas Orthopedic & Shoulder Institute

Sandy Wu, PharmD, RPH is a healthcare entrepreneur, small-business builder, and
community advocate rooted in Sunnyvale, TX.
Born in Taiwan to parents who ran a small medical practice while caring for extended
family, Sandy learned early that commitment, responsibility, and service to others are
the foundation of meaningful work. At age 15, her family immigrated to Richardson,
Texas. Arriving without English, she focused intensely, graduating in the top six percent
of Berkner High School. After attending 2 years in Baylor University, she was accepted
into the Doctor of Pharmacy program at The University of Texas at Austin, earning her
PharmD in 2006 and becoming a registered pharmacist.
Sandy and her husband returned to Dallas in 2010 during the recession, when
orthopedic jobs were scarce around the country. Rather than leaving the community,
they opened a small practice in Mesquite with one physician and two staff members.
With no family nearby and a newborn daughter, Sandy learned medical billing and
management one step at a time.
In 2014, she purchased the land and built the current medical building in Sunnyvale and
moved in May 2015. The practice expanded by adding a second surgeon in 2018,
introduced in-house physical therapy in 2019, and brought on a foot and ankle surgeon
in 2020 during the height of COVID. In 2023, she sought out opportunities and opened
the second location in Kaufman and welcomed the fourth surgeon in sports medicine.
Today, that practice has expanded to a multi-specialty team with offices in Sunnyvale
and Kaufman, in-house physical therapy, and four surgeons, over 30 staff, with further
expansion underway in Sunnyvale.
Sandy believes that business is about people and heart first. She is known for her ability
to “turn problems into possibilities,” guiding her teams with clear purpose, practical
optimism, and a focus on community connection. Her leadership style emphasizes
responsibility, respect, setting highest standards and growing people as the foundation
of growing organizations.
Sunnyvale is not just where Sandy works — it is where she invests, contributes, and
create possibilities. She is committed to supporting the success of local businesses,
strengthening community ties, and helping shape a thriving future for the Town of Sunnyvale.
